Jake Posko

Welcome to the website of Jake Posko

Jake has been performing music for over 25 years.  He has a broad range of experience and musical influences and style. He has opened for international acts such as Aaron Neville, Raul Malo, and Bob Dylan keyboardist Al Kooper.

Jake has composed, produced, and performed his unique music for solo and collaborative independent albums, live venues and private events. Jake’s vast repertoire spans many genres and cultures including acoustic, rock, pop, folk, blues, bluegrass, and much more.

Singer/songwriter Jake Posko blends mellow acoustic beach music with irony soaked love songs. With a voice that can start off as a whisper and end in a raspy yell, Posko writes music that recalls early Bruce SpringsteenJack Johnson, and Josh Ritter. Posko makes music that is thoughtful and emotionally driven with a strong emphasis on the basics: Acoustic guitar and a single voice.

Early reviews criticized Posko’s “rhythmically challenged non-sequiturs” which he wore as a badge of honor. Posko’s lyrics are biting at times, and swing from scathing recollections on modern suburban malaise, to quiet country-blues that recall new Americana. Always interesting and often sweet. Known for his bare-bones approach to recording, Posko uses as little instrumentation and technology as possible – preferring low-fi sounds to polished recordings. Happy to leave the creaking of a chair or the cawing of a crow in the final mix.

Before he was 21 years old, Posko had opened for national acts such as Aaron NevilleRaul MaloAl Kooper, and David Lindley. Posko established himself in the local Annapolis, Maryland music scene where he worked as a regular gigging musician.

Eventually, the rigors gigging forced Posko to stop perform regularly so as to focus on family and record and release music as a singer-songwriter. Posko writes and records songs from his home in Kitty Hawk, North Carolina.

Jake enjoys sharing his love of music, recording, and production.  He is the owner of Severn River Music.
